The great John Peel said “Somebody was trying to tell me that CDs are better than vinyl because they don't have any surface noise. I said, 'Listen, mate, life has surface noise."

Here at Hair of the Dog Vinyl we couldn’t agree more. I have collected records from an early age and spent far too much time digging in crates around the South West during my youth. Like so many of us, life got in the way and vinyl played second fiddle to marriage, children and a teaching career that eventually led me to Thailand for seven years.

A few years ago, my wife, Sian, bought me my first record player for many moons. I’m not sure she realised quite where this would lead! Now we’re back in the UK and Hair of the Dog Vinyl is up and running. I have taken the huge step of quitting teaching and working full time at my dream job. We have been hitting the record fair circuit in Essex and London and starting to meet vinyl enthusiasts, young and old. Details of our next fairs will be posted here regularly so drop by for a chat and buy some quality used vinyl at great prices.

I believe in selling good quality vinyl (no Jim Reeves or Leo Sayer here!) at sensible prices. I am working constantly to bring in new collections to develop our catalogue of vinyl.
